Event

Class: New Kayaker / Basic Skills

Details

This event is for those who are new to kayaking and would like to learn some basics. We will spend ~1 hour on dry land covering boats, gear & vocabulary. We’ll spend ~1 hour on the water learning basic paddle strokes. I'll cancel if there is not enough (~4 people) interest by 6pm the day before.

Come learn new skills in a safe environment. This is a good paddle classroom. Learn how to keep yourself and others safer. There will be someone to help with unloading and loading your boat.

If you can't make this session, let me know when would work for you and I'll see what I can do to schedule another session!

TOPICS COVERED:

• Equipment, Terminology, Basic Strokes, Safety

• Getting in and out of your boat & assisting others

• Loading, unloading, securing your kayak to your vehicle

WHAT TO BRING:

• Kayak, paddle

• PFD, whistle (Must be worn)

• Change of clothes (in case you get wet)

• Water & snacks

• Sunscreen

• Clothing appropriate for weather

All paddles are subject to change so please check before you come. I will cancel if there is not enough interest for this date & time.

HOW TO FIND US: We'll be near the boat launch on the grassy area nearby. I'll be there with my boat and equipment laid out. Bring something comfortable for the first hour on land. Chair, coffee, sweater, etc.
