Event

Lake Spokane Intermediate/Advanced Afternoon Paddle

Details

Details

Mother nature is providing another opportunity for splashing, spraying and frivolity before fall sets in. This event is intended to capitalize on that opportunity. We will meet at Lake Spokane Campground at 1PM and set off on the 2-mile paddle to the "Cove" to kick back and enjoy the water and scenery for a while. We will then loop back to the campground. At that point stronger paddlers can continue on an additional loop to the Long Lake Dam and back.

Total distance for the "Cove" loop is 4.5 miles while both loops is 14. "Dam" loop paddlers should be comfortable maintaining around 3mi/h for the approximately 3h loop.

We will launch at the boat ramp of Lake Spokane campground, which is 6 miles west of Tum Tum on highway 291. A Discovery Pass is required, as is PFD and whistle. Any watercraft that can maintain 2mi/h is appropriate for the "Cove" loop. Touring kayaks are more appropriate for the "Dam" loop.

Guests must sign liability waiver here: https://form.jotform.com/JLAagency/spokane-canoe--kayak-club-waiver

There are 2 parking areas so you can drop your kayak at the boat launch and park in either lot. Restrooms are available.

For safety reasons we will stay together on the water.

Dress for water temperature and weather.

Bring a change of clothes & towel (in case you get wet).

Bring a headlamp on the water with you. It is getting darker earlier. :-(

Good Items to Bring: Dry bags, Spray Skirt, emergency contact info, headlamp, water shoes, sunhat, sunscreen, sunglasses with retainer, drinking water and snacks.

Paddler Responsibility: Each paddler is responsible for choosing outings they can handle comfortably and assumes full responsibility for their participation.

Cancellation/updates: Wind, smoke, high temperatures or other conditions could result in event cancellation. If so, the Host will update on Meetup. Please check before coming.
